Study participants’ self-reported food insecurity scores were calculated using a validated scale of 0 to 10, with higher values indicating greater food insecurity. Analysis of overall breastfeeding duration and exclusive breastfeeding duration and practice revealed no significant association of food insecurity with breastfeeding duration and exclusive breastfeeding duration and practice. Among the cohort of participating women who completed the interview soon after delivery, food insecurity was not associated with early initiation of breastfeeding.
