I just wanted to add to the very good collection of CGA compatible monitor calibrating utilities. I have come across this program, and have used it to calibrate my CGA monitor. It does what it says, and it does it well.

However, I use my monitor normally with the resolution I set it at when I plug it in to the PC. This means the display is at the default 1024×768. I would recommend you try the program, and see if it would calibrate the monitor for you at the given resolution.

I have used the CGA compatible monitor calibrator on a monitor with a built in calibration routine. It did not work for me.

I use -any- spacer and calibrator I can find or make for CGA, and I use the built-in monitor calibration routine in OSX. I can then scan from -0.015 to -0.015, and see the result on the display.

It’s a bit more work, but I think it is the most accurate and easiest way to go.

You might want to read the README file for the program. It has some good links about the types of monitors to use for calibration, and how they should be used.

As you can see, there’s a 0.015 of adjustment for every pixel in the display. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it is an amount of adjustment corresponding to

The CGA compatibility options are listed at the bottom of the screen. You
can click the boxes to select the features to be tested. This list will
update as you click each box. Some features, such as combining the two
outputs to a single output with the ‘Distribute’ box checked, do not appear
in the list until you start testing.
As you click through the options, a corresponding report will appear on
the right of the screen. This report describes the results of the test,
including why a particular feature was selected. It explains the checking
for each test, and where you are currently in the test. It will also tell
you if a feature was missed by the test, and it will indicate any warnings
you encountered.
The CGA has many configurations, so you may see some obvious errors that
you wish to correct. For example, you may want to select a text mode and
then correct the refresh rate. Click the ‘Save’ button to save these
settings, and return to the main menu. The ‘Restore’ button can be used to
restore settings to their defaults, and the ‘Stop’ button will end the
test.
The ‘Report’ button will generate a set of text files that you can email
or copy to another computer. This report describes what the test
