I have a MySQL table with structure

There are over 40’000 rows of that table.
How do I get the last 12 rows?

You can do
SELECT * FROM sometable ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 12
A:
This should do it:
SELECT * FROM yourtable ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 0,12;
I would use ORDER BY id DESC because it is generally the most efficient way. This is because MySQL doesn’t guarantee the order of the rows in the result for ORDER BY id ASC.
And, by the way, LIMIT 0,12 limits the result set to the top 12 rows with this order:
