You’re going to be a pirate! Fight enemies, go treasure hunting and find the sword buried by your great ancestors. Seablip is a fast paced action RPG game. The story is about how you acquire a treasure map and try to seek it out.

I’m ok with map packs. I don’t buy them and I don’t have a problem with buying them on release, but I’m sure the staff at Paradox will need to update their entire game client when this one updates. Even worse they will need to get some new textures so the art revamp won’t go unnoticed.

This is my problem with map packs though.

To me, what makes Battle for Wesnoth an interesting game is that it’s not based on one single map. It’s based on a lot of maps. The single maps are just reflections of the theme and of this very game. It’s my favorite game.

I also think it’s very much a game about strategy. It’s not “10 of these” and “10 of these”. They’re all very carefully balanced.

The game is fun no matter which difficulty you pick. Maps are balanced around the difficulty and that’s fine. Most people will end up playing only the single maps that they feel comfortable with.

However, the hard mode is extremely hard. You basically need to level your units a couple of times and still end up with the same cast you had when you started. So as a pacifist player I can’t enjoy hard mode except for “testing”. However, when playing the regular mode some of the enemies still may be too hard for me. If they were a bit smarter, I would try harder. If they would just be a bit less powerful…

It’s all about time, effort and skill. That’s what this game is all about. It doesn’t belong in a “map pack”. It belongs in a “network game”.

As far as I’m concerned this is a network game. It’s less than a year old. It’s still fun and not even close to boring (which is what happens when you have 30 maps to try).

One thing that annoys me about Battle for Wesnoth is that it’s one of the few games where more than one player is desirable.
