Genesis Plus GX is an emulator which closely emulates the Genesis Plus GX hardware. It has been ported to many platforms, such as Amstrad, Sega MegaDrive, Atari Jaguar, JVC GR-X in the USA, Sega Pico, Sega Nu, NES Micro and SNES. Genesis Plus GX emulates all 17,820,040 games of the original MegaDrive library, as well as many other consoles’ libraries, and supports CD-ROM emulation and SPUZ. It is a RetroArch frontend, meaning it shares many of RetroArch’s features like real-time rewind, runahead, cheats, achievements, hi-scores, and more. Genesis Plus GX also supports the other games from Universal, Squaresoft, Konami, Capcom, Nintendo, Sega, Data East, Namco and numerous other publishers.
Genesis Plus GX adds support for the home 3D Controller (via PhysX), and features a new configuration file to enable it.
The genesis plus gx port on this site is a little lighter and faster than other gx ports, as the console emulation is very good (though not the highest).
A file called “config.ini” is included which can be edited by the user, allowing them to change the emulated resolution, frameskip and audio channels. The game is in Japanese, and an English language in-game help is included, but english language settings are not pre-configured by default, so the user must manually change them as the load screen displays.
The original console-side audio is used.
The in-game menu supports a Configurable Display, allowing the user to choose an easier interface that displays the highest rated games first, and gives them the option to change video formats and screen resolutions.
The game is not installed to the hard disk, the “setup.dol” file is used to extract it.
