I’ve been writing functions in Python which take a string as an input and return a boolean. In Python, if the input string contains a sub-string that matches a regex, then the function returns true (though it will return 0 if the string is a perfect match).
I wanted to write an excel function that does the same thing, but I cannot figure out how to do it. In Excel, VBA doesn’t seem to have the ability to use a “re.search” function that matches regex strings (though it does have a similar “re.match” function).
My goal is to use a regular expression with multiple variants for identifying a set of objects, such as:
(a) name (a-zA-Z)
(b) name (a-zA-Z)
(c) name (0-9)
(d) name [a-z] (invalid)
(e) name [a-z] [0-9]
I have the code to identify (a) – (c) already, but I don’t know how to make it do
