Jump Knight is the latest arcade entry from Ninja Tune’s ever-ever expanding franchise. This time you are given a nice selection of ninja-like abilities, including the ability to run through walls, and a bomb that will allow you to destroy heavily guarded buildings. So much like in real life, you’re provided with a arsenal of appropriately coloured weapons and a map of the town, littered with randomly located buildings, and guards patrolling the streets. Your job is to destroy the compounds by either blowing the doors or shooting through the windows, in an attempt to reduce the level of enemy Forces. If you make contact, you must back away as quickly as possible, to avoid being hit by enemy fire.

A couple of things about Jump Knight:

First, it’s Ninja Tune. They make lots of really bad games. I think they even make a Mario spin-off. I’m still waiting for Mushroom Clouds & Blooper Balls.

Second, The plot of Jump Knight is based off the Japanese media company and anime show, Dragon Quest. It loosely follows the plot of the original Dragon Quest, although the basis of that (I believe) is 1) change all the names and 2) mostly cover up the area of the world that the setting is based on.

Third, if you’re expecting an original story to rival Silent Hill 2, think again. Jump Knight is a very basic, very cliche, run around and blast stuff kind of game. It’s not a game you can get lost in, in a good way. It’s easy to tell exactly what’s going on, and it’s all very clear. You’ll notice that every time you encounter a new enemy, or try a new ability, the new effects on the battlefield will be pretty clear.

Fourth, as I said, there’s only one map, and there’s only one city. All other activities are done by spending the game’s currency, called Jump Coins. The only reason to do the other activities is to earn more Jump Coins. You can level up by completing objectives that are related to it, but all the achievements are available before you get access to the higher levels. And since there’s only one map, you should be able to figure out how to get to the higher levels much quicker than you would if there was more than one map.

    Gameplay:

    Settling building a new home is always a bit of a lagging process.
    To level up to The Heavenly Wizard of Destruction’s new badass challenge
    section you must be level 45 and have played for five minute. This is
    where the game wins because you now get to build your garrison in the new
    House. You do this by selecting the room you would like to build and then
    placing a rock into it. The doors will open up and a diorama will play.
    You can help the diorama by clicking on the an interactive graphic to play
    a new mini game or to build more bridges. You have seven bridges and
    twelve mini games to choose from. Winning a minigame unlocks a new
    bridge which, when connected, becomes an intermodal bridge which can be
    connected to other newly built bridges. The best part is that when your
    garrison has reached level 45 you will unlock the challenging mission
    section, Heavenly Wizard of Destruction.

    After level 45 you are then given 30 days to reinforce and garrison the
    new store and hotel. After the 30 days are up the game will gently encourage
    you to ask the galactic council to replace the store and hotel or pay in
    appeal. If they ask you to abandon it and not to pass out garbage it will
    be destroyed.

    After building a few more bridges between those two buildings you can also
    start building their team. Make sure to use the new team by clicking on the
    top of them and selecting the new team instead of all four that drop off
    from the start. The new team opens their main window and allows you to
    enroll about twenty new members. You can also buy new armour for your team
    and customize them with a new hairdo. If you are new to this game you may

    After completing the second building you will enter a new map with cave
    systems. The cave is split into five levels

    I love this game. The first time I played it, it was very disconcerting, and by the second time, it was getting to the point of it being part of the game’s experience. I got lost. I found my way back to the starting point, but by the time I got there, I realized I needed to finish Ogrest’s story. By the end of the game, I had finished all the actions and puzzles available to me, and finished the game in something like three hours, and I was thrilled with the way it ended.

    The graphical style is a bit surreal, but it’s made for this sort of game. I think it might have been more successful if the ambient graphics weren’t as sharp and polished as they are, or if Ogrest’s motions were a bit more simple.

    Basically, the game seems very friendly and welcoming to newcomers, and that’s great, but it’s not like I had any idea what to expect from the game’s narrative. I was delighted by Ogrest’s personality and his ability to talk to the player.
