The TagCopy application was designed to be a small tool that copies AlbumArtists tag to Composer tag in .mp3, .m4a, and .mp4 files.
Usage:
Drag a folder onto the main grid area. All .mp3, .m4a, and .mp4 files from the main directory and all sub-directories will populate the grid. Use the Copy Artist to Composer button to copy the artist tag to the composer tag. Use the Delete Composer button to delete the composer tag, should you need to for any reason.

TagCopy copies artist tags from.mp3,.m4a, and.mp4 files to composer tags. Artist tag is copied to the composer tag on filename generation, including all sub-directories.
Examining the Tag Copy Process
When TagCopy first loads, the application attempts to extract album title, artist name, and album artist tag from.mp3,.m4a, and.mp4 files. TagCopy
makes a list of all files that contain all of the following tags:
Artist:
Album Title:
Album Artist:
The following selection is made from the list of files above:
1. If the file type is.mp3 then the file will be selected
2. If the file type is.m4a then the file will be selected
3. If the file type is.mp4 then the file will be selected
4. The artist tag (also known as album artist) is copied from the selection to the composer tag of the filename
5. If an album is selected then the name of the album is added to the composer tag in lower case and everything else is deleted. If an artist tag is copied then the artist’s name is added to the composer tag in lower case and everything else is deleted.

IDEA: Add an option to include or exclude “PlayList ID Tags”. The PlayList ID tag contains the playlists ID number that is found in the file when it is added to a Playlist. One use is to help identify which song came from which playlists ID and which artist created each playlist. Clicking on the playlists ID tag in the grid will take you to the PLAYLIST tab and the song list window.
Another use is to identify if the song is from a bonus track on a DVD that was ripped with the DVD Backup ID tag.

I have added an option to the Delete Composer button to delete the ComposerId tag that contains the ComposerId number that is found in the Composer tag. If you delete the ComposerId tag from an AlbumArtist tag, the AlbumArtist tag will remain, but when the composer tag is copied, the composer tag will have the the ComposerId value removed. This is an easy way to quickly identify songs from a specific album.

TagCopy is an application made for those who do not have iTunes or need to quickly copy the Artist tag to Composer tag in.mp3,.m4a, and.mp4 files. TagCopy comes with 3 bundled versions of itunescmd.
You may install it by extracting the files using the recommended folder and double-click the exe. You do not need to install it in the applications folder as it does not add any icons or shortcuts.

– Drag a folder onto the main grid area and it will recursively search its sub-directories for the files you selected
– Choose a pattern to search for the selected files (ex: artist-album-artist-album-composer-etc)
– Use the command line parameters (Ex: –all) to recursively search through all the sub-directories
– Search for artist, album, and albumartist
– Copy Artist to Composer or Composer to Artist
– Delete the Composer tag
– File Extensions may be used, without brackets (ex: artist-composer)

– Copy to Clipboard without closing the program

How to Use:
Open a folder and drag all the files you want to copy into the grid. You may drag sub-directories into the grid as well. Once you have selected all the files you want to copy you can either select “Copy Artist to Composer” or “Copy Composer to Artist” to have it done. The Copy Artist to Composer feature will place brackets around the artist name and the Composer name will be replaced with the artist name.
If you select to copy the Composer to Artist feature you will be prompted to delete all the Artist tags you have already duplicated to do this. The Delete Artist button will remove all the artist tags and the Delete Composer button will remove all the composer tags.
All files will be deleted that are not copied, except if you select the check box below it. If you want to copy the files to the clipboard you may select the check box next to the “Copy Selected to Clipboard” button.
Supported file types are:.mp3,.m4a, and.mp4.

Features:

* Currently only.mp3,.m4a, and.mp4 files can be used for the tests.
* Only contains 2 buttons. The buttons are easily identified by their colors.

* Tracks will not be copied if the source file already contains a composer.
